The Raw Edge Team's LFW S/S12 Diary

Fashion week made its ways across the pond, to a much anticipating set of Londoners... Press passes & invites at the ready, The Raw Edge Team set off.  The Raw Edge Team have been working night and day on the AW 11 Collection, so we made our way to as many shows as we could! These included the opening show of LFW, Paul Costelloe at the BFC show space, Vauxhall Fashion Scout Womenswear Ones to Watch show at the Freemasons Hall as well as the Belle Sauvage show at the Old Sorting Office.

Once again loved the clothes, loved the show, loved the venue!

Although LFW is arguably not as colourful as other fashion weeks in terms of celeb appearances and after parties all over the gaff.. With the likes of Anna Wintour gracing our front rows and creatively quirky collections gracing the catwalks, this season's LFW further confirms that the British fashion movement is a force to be reckoned with. Check out the rest of our favourite shows from LFW below.

Fall's Hottest Hairstyle

Fall style and get inspired to cut your hair and get new fresh look far fall season. Fall season for Jennifer Lopez with waves rather than pin-straight hair keeps her looking soft and feminine.

Beauty short and sweet hairstyle in fall hair trend. Does the bevy of pixie haired stars like Emma Watson have you wondering whether you should make the cut this fall? Test out the look before you head to the salon by trying on short hairstyles in iVillage’s instant makeover.

Or try this style we said " Blunt Bangs" Can we be blunt? One of the most copied star cuts for the season is a bang-heavy style like Olivia Wilde's. The dynamic style is decidedly bold –but for those days when you crave a softer look, you can always add a dab of product and sweep your fringe to one side.

TREND ALERT: COLOUR BLOCKING

Colour Blocking is one hot trend!

Take solid, bold colours and put them together to form a killer outfit guaranteed to turn a head or two.

The bright colours of Spring takes this trend to new levels that aren't for the faint hearted.

Without a doubt, colour blocking is the hottest trend this season.

The Raw Edge Team's NYFW S/S12 Diary

Now that New York Fashion Week has come to an end, and the festivities that the week brings are all but memories waiting to be relived again next season, our Media Correspondent, Ngozi Kemjika looks back at Raw Edge Boutique’s highlights from the week.
This season was quite possibly one of our favourite seasons to date, not only did we enjoy the shows, the designs and so on, we revelled in the fact that the city that never sleeps truly lived up to its name. With the shows came back to back after parties and with the after parties came a tremendous amount of fun. In between running to and from shows, meeting designers, changing our flats into our heels, and retouching our make-up, the Raw Edge Team got stuck right into the spirit of fashion week!
The city was jam packed with events and people alike on New York’s third annual ‘Fashion’s Night Out’ also. We found ourselves well and truly lost (in a good sense) in the mayhem on New York’s famous Fifth Avenue.

Once Fashion’s Night Out was over we could fully concentrate on the shows and boy oh boy were we blessed this season to actually make it to so many. A great yet tiring experience, we don’t know how those in charge do it!
A designer that particularly stood out to us was Jen Kao; her use of what she terms “happy disillusionment” gave her pieces a dramatic yet very wearable feel. Have a look for yourselves here:

Another one of our highlights was the Vera Wang show. A-lister’s such as Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Serena Williams came out in full force to see what the new collection had to offer and in true Raw Edge style, we met and spoke with a few of them about the show.

No, the fun didn’t stop there! We rushed back to the next show which was the phenomenal Herve Leger collection by the one and only Max Azria. Amazing! Great choice of girls to match up with his great designs, we were absolutely mesmerised. Check out myself and Max backstage below.

The show that the headquarters of REB were particularly excited to see all week was the Arise show. We had spoken so much about it before-hand that we had butterflies waiting to be seated. It is always a great pleasure for us to support African talent and it felt like going to the show to be spectators that we were doing just that. REB could clearly see the passion and hard work that had went into the show and it was a pleasure to receive an invite. Shout out to Leona Lewis for a great closing performance, she definitely gave us chills.

Ngozi with bloggers THE 4 ACES
All in all we have had a blast in NYC this Fashion Week! Until next year folks
